AP Psychology Student Reflections

What surprised or impressed you most in the course?

  • “The topic that surprised me the most was REM sleep. I didn’t know that we go through sleep cycles and that dreaming occurs mostly in REM. As someone who often dreams, it made me reflect deeply and think about Freud’s dream theories.”
  • “Attachment theory made me reflect on my own relationships. I began to understand how early childhood bonds influence how we connect with others even years later.”

What supported your learning the most?

  • “The way you repeated key concepts and asked questions every lesson helped me memorize the terms and really grasp the topics. The constant interaction kept me engaged.”
  • “You made connections between different chapters, constantly integrating past material into new topics, which helped me see the bigger picture and build a stronger understanding.”

How would you describe the classroom atmosphere?

  • “The class atmosphere felt very open and welcoming. I was never afraid to express my thoughts or ask questions, even if I wasn’t sure I was right.”
  • “You made sure everyone felt seen and heard. Even in moments of confusion or frustration, you stayed calm and supportive, which made learning much easier.”

How did this course affect your personal life?

  • “I now find myself applying psychological terms when I observe people around me — whether it’s defense mechanisms, parenting styles, or cognitive biases. Psychology became part of my daily thinking.”
  • “Psychology gave me tools to reflect before reacting. I can analyze situations and people more objectively, and that helps me stay calmer during conflicts.”

If you had to describe your teacher with one psychological term, which would you choose?

  • “Unconditional Positive Regard” — because you always accepted us as we are, and supported us unconditionally throughout the year.
  • “Secure Attachment” — I felt completely safe and supported in your class, both academically and emotionally.
  • “Extraversion” — you’re energetic, positive, and always brought so much enthusiasm to the class.
  • “Emotional Intelligence” — because of your sensitivity, empathy, and ability to connect with every student on a personal level.
  • “Growth Mindset” — you constantly encouraged us to improve, to embrace challenges, and to believe that we can always learn and grow.
  • “Self-Determination Theory” — you always balanced autonomy, competence, and relatedness, making us feel capable, motivated, and connected.
